What are your opinions on .co domains? Do you own any? How many times have you accidently come across a .co domain?

Discuss. 😛

I think they are good when you can't pay for a domain; I have one myself. I've also heard of the free domain TK as well.

Are you talking about a .co.cc domain because .co isn't free. 😛

.co are free?
Since when were they free?
I have owned 2 sold both recently though.
I come across them every once and a while.
Kind of expensive without a coupon though.

.tk have problems with search engines I've heard, and they are usually regarded as unprofessional.

I have come across a few of them. I guess they are like any other domain that you buy. The main thing is how the owner sets up the website to interact with the end user. No two people will set things up exactly the same way.

I rarely visit a .co domain, if I think about it. Mostly are the top three: .com, .net, and .info as far as today. Like Pvt_Tracy, I don't think it is that much different compared to other TLD as long as the content of the website is really interesting.

I don't know how much it costs, but if it costs more or less similar to .com or .info, I think I can guess why .co is not very popular. XD

.co is a confusing domain to be honest.

i think .net/.org/co.uk or even .in/.us etc are better.

people will mistake .co for .com domain often.

.co seems like more of a new domain into the market, hence people not using it and it's lack of rank

I don't visit many websites with .co domains. I assume they'd be good for cooperate websites. If someone trying to access your website accidentally left off the m in .com you could easily have your .co redirect to your .com. That way you won't lose traffic due to a typo.

This is very true and could be quite useful if you have the money. Also, .co could be very popular since alot of .com names are taken and with what you said about the typo. 🙂

Twitter owns http://t.co which they use to shorten every outbound link from tweets.

I personally only have one .co domain which is adminforums.co ( Along with .org, .me etc; )

I used to use .tk / .co.cc back when I used to run websites years ago on freewebs, but since have only used .com/.net/.co. I personally think .co.cc is very unprofessional and normally cannot take a website/forum/blog serious when they have that domain.

Mostly people prefer using the .com domains. I have seldom come across .co domains. Majorly people also prefer using the country specific domains like.co.in, .co.uk. This is beneficial in terms of establishing a good online identity in the respective countries. Having a country specific domain name is beneficial for gaining the right incoming traffic as well.

the price of .co domains is also higher than normal and it is only for a reason, Columbia..
