Codernation

First Impressions
When I first visited your site, your logo was the first thing that caught my attention. I liked how you had incorporated the holidays into your forum. The wreath is a great Christmas symbol. At the same time, I'm not a fan of the text effects in your logo. That applies to both the main logo's text and the "Happy Holidays" text.
Average
Originality
The overall design of your forum isn't very original. However, in lieu of the Holidays, I think you have done a good job in adding a Christmas flare to the site. I love the snow covered title bars in specific areas. The snow effect falling on the forum is cool too. However, the snowfall isn't original either as a lot of people are using it this year.
Originally, when I saw the name of your forum, I got excited. There are not many coding related forums out there anymore. At least, they're not being advertised. To my surprise, "Codernation" isn't related to coding. The name is very misleading, and I was extremely disappointed. There is a total of three boards related to coding, and the rest of the forum contains areas related to general discussion and off-topic from what the "name" of the site puts off. The site structure is like a general discussion forum and includes many, if not all, of the boards most general discussion forums use. In my opinion, that's the most unoriginal thing about your forum.
~ My Suggestions ~
- Find a new name that is not misleading. I know that might be hard to do seeing that you've already purchased a domain for the site. If you choose to stick with the name, then I suggest that you add boards related to "coding," and remove and merge some of your existing general discussion areas.
- Be more creative and original with your individual board names. Most general discussion forums all use the same names for their boards, and that's a problem. I'm sure you could think of creative names that would fit each board's purpose. By doing that, you're making your forum more original, and it'll stand out from others.
Poor
Spelling & Professionalism
Administrators are held to a higher standard that their forum staff and members. That said, administrators should be professional and use correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation when posting on their site. That point is especially true in announcement and question or support areas. Sadly, on your forum, that is not the case. For example,
Watchmen is an administrator, yet he wrote:
"bro how can you make a subscription service when the site is hacked or down half the time? netflix has subscription becoz they deliver shows movies. how do you make people pay $25 a month when you are down half the time?"
There is so much that is, very, wrong with that passage. First, the words "bro" and "becoz" are two of the least professional words I've ever seen typed as a response to a question or support thread. The entire passage above lacks correct capitalization, punctuation, and professionalism. The world "becoz" should be spelled like:
because. How hard is it to spell out words? The word "bro" shouldn't be in the response.
The above passage is not the only issue. There are several other posts by
Watchmen that don't make sense, and they are written horribly. As an administrator, he needs to step up to the plate and be more professional--in general.
Very Poor
Final Remarks
Honestly, I'm very disappointed with Codernation and I really hope that some of my feedback and suggestions are taken seriously.
