Coding a social network

Well it is good to be doing it, at least you can learn from and if you feel you're doing a good job, it is very satisfying. Sorry no criticism from me 😀

I Agree, I have some hope that this might be pretty successful.

Luke, just look at this like any website project: If you come at it with your all, pour your unique and creative ideas, and remain dedicated to the website, it will at least flourish for a bit :great:

Development has been slow, it's hard to make anything original without having Facebook or twitter on your back if it did come successful.

No they won't. They don't own an idea or how something works. That's like every forum software going after a new one before some features are similar. All social networks have key features the same.

I managed to get a lot done today, news feed now displays in the right order (before it seems to screw up every month), a couple other features and work on the profile is underway. 🙂 Full steam ahead.

Good luck with the site it seems to be coming along well by what you have said 🙂 also what language are you using to code it?

@Krymzn: PHP with MySQL, I'd assume.

Well, ZINC, I wish you good luck. Also, Spudster...Twitter has more users than the US has people. That won't be easy.

So much negativity. Good luck with your project 🙂

I don't want to say until I secure the domains 🙂

ZINC good luck with your new social network, I will be sure to check it out. As to that Connor L guy, he's acting idiotically.
If you look back at the social networks in history you can notice a trend.
Myyearbook, POPULAR, then eliminated.
Friendster, FAMED, dominated by...
Myspace, HUGE, obliterated by...
Facebook.

Google+ is now in the picture and I'm not sure how many people use it, I don't and don't know anyone else who does, but it has potential. However the point of me bringing this up is because even when a network is popular, huge, big or whatever you want to call it they have been trumped by the next big thing that gets ahead of their game.

To take over this business, if that's what you want to do some day you have to be ahead of the competitors games or as you are doing come up with someone unique that they do not have.

I wish you the best of luck and think that if you stick with your idea and do not abandon it due to things like misfortune, or unexpected traffic drops, then eventually things will work out.

I'm going to start up work on this, thinking about whether to get some other workers or not, but I can't be bothered with legal battles.

If you want to be bigger then Google plus then stay dedicated dont drop out of the project and be there whenever you can try to make it a business.

My only problem is I suck with security so I'm going to have to find someone who's an awesome hacker.

If anyone has any ideas they would like in the social network, please tell me!

Hm. What kind of social network will it be?
A general one, like Facebook, Twiter and Google+ have no actual topics.
