I think this is one of the most important items on the ballot this year in the entire country. Some polls have shown that it is likely to pass, but we'll have to see.

I'm really interested to see what the federal government does to Colorado if marijuana is legalized. Remember California? They came in and shut down dozens of dispensaries.

Do you think it will create a ripple effect in the surrounding states? How long will it take before other states in the area start putting similar amendments on the ballot?

Well there is 6 total votes going on relate to marijuana

Colorado,Oregon, and Washington all Plan on fully legalizing and regulating marijuana similar to beer. Also note these three states already had medical marijuana legal.

Then there are three states voting to make medical marijuana legal.

Arkansas, Montana, and Massachusetts All three which have tried in the past if I am not mistaken.

I see it passing in most of the states. Which will in turn create more jobs.

The aftereffects could be both positive and negative. I hope for more positive and this gets other states to vote on this matter. However I fear this will may create a negative effect making the DEA do raids, arrests, etc.. Like what recently happened in California.

Not to mention it could also depend on who gets elected. From what I have heard Romney does not want marijuana legal.

Obama.. he said he was not going to mess with states which have it legalized, but again.. California lol..

Then there is Johnson who wants to end the war of marijuana and would help and welcome states legalizing it.

I hope it gets legalized fully.

Both recreational use and medical use. I think that it should also be taxed just like tobacco and alcohol are and much more heavily since the real benefit would be that it would also be protected as well. I've heard that there are a lot of medical marijuana places under attack by the cartels where they rob the places and I think that if it were given federal protection, then they might be just as protected as the gold in Fort Knox. The money spent from taxing it could do a lot to help this economy since it wouldnt be spent in Mexico where it would have to be smuggled in by the cartels and it would go a long way to ending the wars happening in this country near the Mexican border.

Legalizing it would undercut the cartels and free up room in the prisons making way for the real criminals because those who were arrested on non-violent charges relating to it shouldn't be treated as though they are hardened criminals. People smoke pot for any number of reasons and most people who do it are regular people who are no different from the people on this forum. I dont smoke pot at all, and I think I might be allergic to it, and I dont see the point in it either, but I do understand the reasons people have used it, and I think that legalizing it just might fix a lot of the problems plaguing this country today.

I think it is worth a shot because trying to ban it outright has only made things worse.

Let's just legalize it already. We can make billions of dollars in taxes for the government. We can also prevent another generation of peaceful people who happen to like using a substance that does no more damage than alcohol from going to jail with real criminals.

Well both Washington and Colorado Legalized it. Oregon sadly did not.

I belive the other three legalized it for medical use.

I've read that the legalization may be short lived because it goes against the anti-drug policy in place by the government but I hope that the states will get a chance to show them how lucrative it is and hopefully, they'll decide to change their stance on this because nothing they've done thus far has worked and this is something that could stimulate our economy..

LOL... The same thing happened back in the alcohol prohibition. You act as if you didn't know Marijuana was illegal under federal law...

A few states legalized it even if it was federally illegal. Finally after enough states legalized it , it was federally legalized.(Not without a fight mind you)

In theory the same thing will happen with marijuana.

I'm not acting as if I didnt know anything, I know that it is illegal, including the reasons behind it and I am very well aware of the fact that alcohol was once illegal as well as its history with prohibition. American History was, and still is, one of my favorite subjects and the Prohibition Era as well as the wars we've been in have always fascinated me. 🙂 I am just saying that I hope that the government wakes up to this fact sooner than later, because it is quite obvious that nothing they've done thus far has worked.

We have more criminals than we have housing for them and when many of the inmates are arrested on non-violent drug charges involving marijuana, then common sense would dictate that something isn't quite right here and that something would have to change.

Considering how beneficial medical marijuana is to Cancer sufferers and other terminally ill patients, there is a viable opportunity in the medical field as well and they probably wouldn't have to tax it as heavily because there would be a demand for it among those who use it recreationallly, religiously (Rastafarians, Buddhists and Taoists to name a few) as well as medically and so, unlike with alcohol and tobacco, there would be at least 3 different demands for it, and possibly as many more as there are uses. However, they probably would tax it just as heavily, if not, moreso and for the same exact reasons, but those who are religious would most likely be exempt.

marihuana should stay illegal
It should also be punished as harshly as murder. Those pot smokers are the lowest form of life.

I doubt weed will ever be legalised here in England. But if it was, it would clear up a lot of crime, because where I live a hell of a lot of violence comes form dodgy drug dealers and buyers. Dispensaries would solve this 🙂

I have to disagree with you on this one, I have been smoking marijuana for about 6-7 years now. I'm still the same guy i was before i started smoking and i'm a pretty chill guy i actually do stuff and i don't sit around and do nothing all day and just smoke pot. I think when people say all pot smokers are stupid and lazy are honestly retarded because that's just stereotyping. I'm no different from someone drinking everyday? Except i won't die as fast from it.

Anyways my view own Colorado legalizing it was smart because California makes tons off of medical marijuana. I think that marijuana should be for medical use only because if it's legalized then the government will take over the production of everything.

Yeah, I noticed that now ahah xD

Also, The guy above me;

I haven't gotten any "Slower" nor have i gotten any "Lazier" then i was before, Do you smoke marijuana? I assume not, Most people who don't smoke just assume stuff that they see on the Internet is true. People have smoked marijuana for years and years for medical purposes and they're not a vegetable or idiot, I suppose it can mess with your memory a bit because i do have kinda bad memory but other then that i haven't got "Slower" or ore lazy as i stated above.

I'm not being sarcastic. If we legalize pot, what's next? Legalizing putting growth hormones in our food? Wait...
