It might have been better to start your forum on phpBB3 rather then phpBB2 although good luck with your forum.

Your forum is well organized with the board/category layouts. Though, i'd suggest combining the general and hobbies board. since both warrant the same discussion. Maybe find other general discussion ideas to the scifi lounge, like entertainment discussions, maybe a creativity board for members so show their writings, artwork, graphics, etc.

If it's possible, amybe downsize the forum's width, to close of alot of the empty space after the board titles/desciptions. Will make it look alot more presentable.

And, i'd consider changing the color font to the title in your banner, the thick red just doesn't match the rest of the forum, and seems out of place.
