Inspired to this topic:

Let's say you want to express your thoughts about a certain update or change on a forum you visit. You create the post or topic and end up seeing a little message "awaiting approval" - How do we feel about community feedback under admin approval? I'm curious to hear your opinions on managing community feedback, particularly when it comes to approval processes before making feedback public.

  • Do you think feedback should be reviewed and approved before being visible to the community?
  • What are the benefits and drawbacks of having an approval process for feedback?
  • How do you balance transparency and quality control in your community?
  • Have you faced any challenges with feedback that was posted without approval?
  • As a member, would you feel offended if your feedback was under approval?
Discuss the pros and cons of having an approval system for community feedback.

On some of the larger forums I've been on, feedback is usually only meant for the site heads, not the public. I don't mind that at all, because it isn't always supposed to be the complaint department.

For smaller forums, it makes sense to have a community feel and public feedback helps that. You get more of an idea of what members truly want, and sometimes come up with even better ideas once they see feedback from others. Kind of like a brainstorm session.

I like this idea.

But here is my take:

1. Member gives feedback/suggestion/feature request

2. Staff reviews feedback and decides if it can move to step 3 (if it's not abuse or spam, etc.)

3. Staff releases it as a poll and allows community to vote

So, it's posted in private first, reviewed, and then released if warranted.

I feel like that's a fair way of doing it.

Got to take it with a pinch of salt
