Contest Information

Community of the Month is a monthly contest where members can vote on whose website or forum most deserves recognition. This contest merges two contests which we have previously held into a single contest, bringing a new take on this classic staple of Forum Promotion.

Typically, forums/sites are submitted from the 1st to the 15th, and voted on between the 16th and the 31st.

Submission Rules
  • You must have 15 posts on Forum Promotion to submit a site.
  • For a site to be accepted, its owner (or an administrator) must be a member of the Forum Promotion community.
  • You are allowed to submit as many sites or forums you want per month, so long as you are said owner or administrator of the site or forum.
  • All sites submitted must follow FP's acceptable content policy.
  • We reserve the right to accept or decline any site submitted to CoTM.
  • When a site wins CoTM, it cannot be submitted again for another two months.

Contest Prizes
  • Advertisements: The winning site will be featured on the Community Billboard for one month.
  • Sticky: Your Promotion Directory topic will be stickied for one month.
  • Recognition: A medal will be displayed on each post you make on FP for one month.
  • Free Service: You will receive one free service of your choice on FP.

I maybe wrong but I double checked the rules and it states "When a site wins CoTM, it cannot be submitted again for another two months." you won community last month for #38. You've also won #37, as per the rules your submission shouldn't have counted last month.

It Seems that the rules have been broken many times. What's hard also, not to mention that every month when the submissions get submitted and for members to make their votes, it's always the same websites. No other new sites and 95% of the time most of us vote for the same

I thought the Rules would be enforced when it comes to the community of month due to the prizes being the same as every other month etc, no chance for other communities to win if the same community is getting the chance to win months in a row thus making their duration much longer on the leader board etc.

This is correct. I knew we had a rule like that somewhere, but didn’t notice it when I was copying the submissions from last month. Since VGR won COTM #37, VGR is ineligible to participate in #38 and #39.

Thanks for commenting on the matter. 🙂

This is 100% true

I already won #38. Shouldn't penalize me for your team not enforcing the rule. Should not have allowed website entry.

I’m aware that I shouldn’t have allowed VGR to be entered. If I would have noticed it, I would have corrected that then. At the same time, I believed the most fair action was to go back and honor the guidelines that are listed.

I’d say that following/enforcing these rules is a two way street. We’ll do our best, but we aren’t going to catch every individual that isn’t following the rules. Also, no results in these COTM events are final until the contest host declares the winner.

Anyways, yes, I made an error. I have admitted that. This was the most fair way to correct that.

I appreciate you admitting your error but again I don't feel I should be penalized as a result of it. That's bad customer service imo.

even owners/admin/staff breaks the rules 😛

To be honest, the fact that he admitted to making an error and is trying to rectify it for the rest of the population seems admirable and completely fair. Just my $0.02. I also wouldn't look at it as being penalized, as you got extra "awards" that you weren't entitled to from the start. Personally, I would take it and run, and then reapply next month when your "waiting period" is over.

You win some, you lose some.
