Do you see similar forums as competition or do you not aim to be bigger then them and get on well with them and share ideas?

I try and get on well with them, sometimes its not possible as they see my forum as major competition and say to go away, these are our members, which i dont understand as on forums similar to mine i dont advertise out of respect.
A while ago I was banned from another advertising site along with Fowler because we have similar forums to his but bigger and better. Apparently we were stealing the members away. That forum owner is obviously delusional, immature, jealous, ect. Besides blocking other forum owners from your site will not keep the public from finding those forums. If you provide a good service, your members will keep coming back no matter how many advertising sites they are registered on.
I dont see the problem with other sites out there being similar to mine. So I see other advertising forums and general discussion forums (thats what I happen to have) as my colleagues. There is nothing wrong with them being out there and if my members happen to join up with my colleagues, well there is nothing wrong with that.

I personally don't see others as competition and i get on well with people who run other advertising forums and we have had numerous staff here who are part of other advertising forums or even run other ones such as Van1lla, Travis, CarmadMike, sfc93, victim used to be staff along with Driver who all run other boards similar.
You tend to be more successful if you get on with other similar forums as then you help promote each other such as i usually tell people to join other ad forums that i am part of and get on well with and i know travis for one does the same in return so in the end it is helpful and better to be friends rather then enemies. We help each other and it helps us for example to be successful.

Anyway, I usually try to help out other sites. For example, me and Carsonk both run Nintendo gaming forums (I have a site added to mine), but we still get along great, and help each other out.
Certain forums I do see as competition (mostly ones that try to copy my website), but then I look at their Alexa rank and laugh. ~lol~
