I have a Toshiba Satellitie, it is 5 years old now. The thing is, today, when I was on the computer, the cooler heats up. My whole computers gets extremely hot after one hour of use. so much that the back of the computer has cracked some, all the way down to the RAM compartment.

The question is, what is the noise it made? It sounded like something was loose but I do not hear it now.

I would be worried more about the cooling issue than the noise. I would recommend cleaning out the laptop if you haven't done so recently.

It might be the fan. You could try unscrewing the bottom cover and using one of those compressed air cans to clean it out, but keep in mind that you might void the warranty by tinkering with it like that.

I do not have a warranty, if I did, I think it would have expired by now. I will try that.

If it is five years old I am sure there is no warranty left. Do like they said and open each of the compartments and see if you can access the fan through them and check that it is not plugged up with dust.

You may have to remove the keyboard to access it. That can be a little trickier depending on the model. Some times it involves gently prying out some trim pieces to get to the screws.

You can try buying one of those USB laptop cooling fan pads to see if it helps.

But, it is best to remove the keyboard and spray canned air in it to remove dust.
