I've had AVG free Anti-Virus for quite some time now. Everything seems to be up to date in terms of new downloads for the program but Windows has been spazzing lately. Pop-ups have been crazy lately even though all my pop-up blockers are on and I guess I've allegedly got 27 viruses.

I need a quick, effective, and free antivirus program. Any suggestions?

for some reason AVG started messing up my vista machine so I have started using http://avast.com/ Its pretty good, has Email,Im,Download,Pop-up blocker and Everything else you need. Check it out.

I tried to download it but I got this message saying my setting prevent me from downloading it. Not to mention its only available in a 60 day trial.

I need to know how to edit my "Security Zone Policy" because my setting there keep preventing me from downloading help!

I've recently found that AVG and other Anti Virus programs aren't that good at all, regardless of all the great feedback they get...you need something stronger to fish out and destroy those viruses.

I had a problem about a week ago when some nasty infections made their way onto my laptop. Anyway to cut a long story short I managed to solve the problem with help from a Microsoft MVP. Follow these steps:

1) Download "TrendMicro HijackThis v 2.0.2"
2) Install on your computer and let it scan
3) Save the scan log
4) Post it in this forum -> http://forums.techguy.org/54-malware-re ... this-logs/
5) Await further assistance from a Microsoft MVP.

They'll probably tell you to download and run a series of programs, at leats that's what they told me and a few others who had similar problems. Trust everything they tell you, as they're certified Microsoft Professionals so don't be afraid of downloading anything they link you to.

Hope this helps ~smile~

I recommend Avast or Anti-Vir. they are pretty good.

Don't forget spyware protection. Spybot and spywareblaster are also pretty good programs.
