Will computers replace teachers in the future?

Will there always be a need for actual teachers?

I think kids need a human being to make them pay attention and understand things. I don't see a computer making them do that.

No. A big part of teaching is motivating students to want to learn, and a computer can't do that because it can't relate to the student as a human being with an individual identity. Teaching and learning is a dance, and a lot of it isn't about content. Furthermore, teachers don't just teach content; we're mentors and role models, too. No computer can do that.

With most universities offering open and distance learning programs, it is possible that what we would have in the near future are facilitators instead of teachers.

Older kids (middle or high school age kids) can do well with computerized learning but young kids NEED an actual human to teach them.

Personaly, I am against it. Kids must have emotional interaction with a teacher and their friends. It is important for social structure of future society, not making machines out of them. Also, they have to become free thinkers and doubt what they read, not just read and memorize.

I think that in some specific cases they certainly can.. and actually do. There are alot of websites that can teach you things like html, php, css that are all reading and test taking.

However when it comes to Elementary through High School I believe actual human teachers are needed. Some students need special attention. Some students may need taught specific ways. Some students may just need that real life interaction to learn.

I don't think computers can outright replace teachers. Sure there are guides online for certain topics, but I feel that children will learn better if there's a teacher instructing them rather than just a guide. Some people need another person teaching them so they can understand the subject better.

No teachers will always be required, someone has to teach the students to use computers and other gadgets.

For grade school, not a chance. Computers may have the ability to do so, but I have zero faith the kids will login and quietly to their work all day.

Adult learning however is already going down this route. I don't see a day when theilre are no instructors or teachers at all in adult learning, but live and in person classes certainly seem to be becoming the abnormal now.

The computers will always be here, but talking about them replacing humans seems a little bit far especially when it comes to teaching. There are different kinds of students and they need some emotional connection with the teacher before they can learn better. Computers don't exude such emotions and that is why teachers will always be here for the long-term.

Jobs can't be lost at this point int time, no

Eventually I do see computers taking over teaching jobs. I mean, aren't teachers a little programmed anyway?

Teaching is not just about presenting information to a class. There are others nuances that are related to teachings and learning. As those nuances can only be understood by a human teacher.
