I would like to kindly ask the member of FP for their suggestions of Contests for a General Discussion forum, http://discussionhq.com/

I already know of the simple "Posting Competition" and "Referral Competition", I'd like to try something new. Not totally unique, but something out of the ordinary 🙂

Any suggestions?

Hi I do a kind of picture lotto on mine, as my comp is usually around xmas I simply post 15 christmas images and number them, then I invite members to select four each and post thenm in the same thread (making sure I have tucked the four winning ones i've selected away first) this year we had a five way tie which by asking those five to choose again i've reduced it to two so now we have a two way tie breaker.

I like the idea of writing comps and poetry comps but not everyone can get involved with that, for prizes I usually use my surplus of spiritual paraphernalia.

Always add a disclaimer giving admin the right to amend or close the comp at anytime.

Do something like a Retweet contest on Twitter. Whoever can get the most RTs wins something. Check to make sure they're not paying to get fake RTs and that the RTs are actually real people.

You could do an Instagram contest. Whoever gets the most likes on a picture somehow relating or linking to your website wins. Again, as long as it's actually real people.

Or, just do a raffle. The only thing needed to enter is to post in a specific thread.

My last contest was a raffle, so I'm going to hold on that. I really like your Twitter and Instagram ideas though, maybe tweet a certain message and whoever gets the most Favorites or RT gets the prize. For Instagram I think it would be more simple as they post a picture and all we need to check for is the Likes.

But it would be difficult to see if they are all real favorites, likes, retweets, or they could be fake.

You could have a userbar image contest. To see who comes up with the best design for a new userbars that the staff use. Once you have them all start a poll and list the userbars in the body of the post and name them A, B, C, D...and then in the poll have the options A, B, C, D...?

Only thing I can think of at this time.

I like that idea, I may save that for later once I get more activity and members 🙂 It takes a lot of participants to make it successful 🙂

That is true. I would join it, just to improve on my graphic skills 😀

You could just randomly select a few accounts in the list of likes/favs/RTs and if they appear real, then chances are most of them are pretty real. If you get a lot of account with no avatar or just ad accounts basically, then chances are that they paid for it. Also, if the amount of likes/favs/RTs they get grows at an abnormal rate, that would give you a red flag that they are probably cheating

Similar to what Delirious had suggested..

A signature of the week contest every week? The prize need not need to be real cash. This type of contest usually work on forums with "community" .

Also, a trailer making contest? It will increase your visibility on video-sharing website such as youtube.

I really like your Twitter and Instagram ideas though,

not everyone uses instagram and twitter though
