Forums and blogs are popular software for the management of user-generated content, but Mr. Kamau believes most free forum software on the market have multiple uses as blog commenting systems, read-only archives, chat-forums and even news services. Transforming your forum into a blog is an idea webmasters should consider and the different ways of making it happen as described in Mr. Kamau's article is worth looking into.
I don't know of any yet besides my experiments @ Cincy Forums. The Cincy Forums News Wire and the BNS Archive are news wires and blogs using the phpBB3 platform. Registered members can comment on articles posted but they can't create new topics unless they request permission. I find phpBB3 to be highly sufficient in meeting a variety needs. As stated before it can be used as a forum, a blog, news service, read-only archives and more...I think we limit our comprehension of its uses by thinking of it entirely in terms of a forum. In fact phpBB3, vBulletin and others like them are software that manages user-generated content. Because of this it opens the door for other creative uses. Thanks for hearing me on this subject. Peace.
