I was just wondering I currently have a phpBB forum and a Zetaboards forum respectively and was wondering if any of these can be converted to Xenforo?

If so, would I lose post counts or members or anything else?
Also would it be worth crossing over to Xenforo or not please?

You can't go from a zetaboards to xenforo sadly, phpbb you can use there merger.

I have no idea if it would work, but you could try converting ZetaBoards to phpBB – then converting phpBB to XenForo. 😀

You can't export the database from ZB, so converting out of it is not possible. You can get a crawler for certain scripts (not sure if phpbb is one or not), but you could get in trouble for killing the servers and it's definitely not recommended.

I have seen multiple forums go from Zetaboards to phpBB. Might be worth checking out on Google or asking at the phpBB forums.

If there is a crawler for ZB->phpbb, just use the crawler to convert from ZB to PhpBB, then convert phpBB to xenforo from there. I haven't specifically done a double convert for ZB -> Xenforo, but I have done similar "double converts" in the past, and they generally work well enough so that you will keep all of your posts and members without any significant loss. Avatars, signatures, and other minor details may not necessarily be kept during the process, however.

Well from way remembered you need get converter that around on google to convert to phpbb or ipb this allow you convert then to Xenforo but warning backup all information during converting eg from zb to forum software choose check works then backup then convert to Xenforo again check works.

We did this a long time ago. In the end we got the mybb system back and spiced it up. Agreed Xenforo is nice. But any software can be remodeled and coded to meet or exceed styles and features. Xenforo is not worth the trouble nor the price.

You can convert the Zetaboards to PhpBB2 then upgrade to Phpbb3 and then convert it over to Xenforo.

The PHPBB3 forum should be able to convert without doing anything. IIRC once you install Xenforo, Go to the tools tab and you can find the importers there. You can look at the information over here: http://xenforo.com/help/importing/

Thanks for that I'll check it out. Hopefully the one that is doing the background work knows what to do.

I'll disagree with this statement. Xenforo is well worth the price and it's cheaper then it's competitors (IPB and vB), so it's up to the end user if they want to invest in Xenforo or not, and not everyone wants to spend the time r effort to model a script like MyBB to mimic and behave like Xenforo when they can just purchase the real thing. 🙂

@angryitalian So you reckon it's not worth it, and others reckon it is.

So my next question is it easy to add or install mods and themes with Xenforo like it is on MyBB?

And is it a Yearly cost or Month to Month cost?

I've used both Mybb and Xenforo, Their both basically upload, install and then configure. Xenforo does now have the TMS (Template Modification System) built in which is amazing. Basically keeps templates updated between themes the best it can. (Find and replace kind of system)

(Mybb may also have this)

Xenforo is well worth the price, The developement might be a little slow, but it's really good.

Xenforo is pretty recent as well, which is an advantage in a lot of ways. I think that within a couple of years, it will be very cutting edge and have all of the features that many people are used to in the alternatives. For now, it is a simple but sufficient forum software solution with a different, more modern feel.

It's a real shame vBulliten went downhill so much.

By doing so would I lose any posts or Members, or would I need to start from scratch?
You need to try it on a test site before doing in on a live site.
Or you could try to choose a paid option to do the conversion for you!
