I've been on forums where when people reply to introductions it's a copy and paste word for word that they use on other intro topics. What do you think of those?

Sometimes it's difficult to think up new things when in the Intro all you get is Hi, I'm Kathy.

So Welcome to FP seems to be the norm for me now. I used to ask questions to try to encourage the newbies to come back and reply. Sometimes it works, oftentimes it doesn't.

For my own intro, it is a copy/paste. For replying, I try to mix it up a bit. If the intro talked about their likes, I do what Katrina does, ask questions.
I don't mind if a reply is a copy/paste. I focus more on the fact that the newbie was welcomed & take it as a win 🙂

I remember back in the day it was with graphics and everything and looked nice. I know sometimes they included links to important areas. If that was the only reply I got in my introduction thread I was always a little sad because no one just said hello. Now if there were multiple responses and obviously not all copy and paste then I was fine. I liked the information. I know some people turned that into messaging where it would also auto personal message people with this same information.

I don't copy-paste my intro when I join a forum. I always create a new post, since I am the same person the intro might look similar though. In my forum, when I reply to the intro I always create a new reply and try to ask a question to spark a conversation.

Nothing else to really say.. I mean can't say (Hi you idiot) I mean then again you can if you running a site that's based on that 😛

End of the day you end up saying just about the same things but more in terms of showing and explaining about the site

I have seen this on some forums of people doing this and it's usually because they wrote something and really liked it so decided to use it for other introductions.

I myself much prefer to be able to write out a new one each time as I feel that is better myself but everyone has their preference.

I don't copy/paste by welcomes but by god it probably looks as though I do. I'm not a very talkative person so I never know what else to say when welcoming people other than the generic "Welcome to the site, lemme know if you need help, hope to see you around!"

I haven't seen too many people do this. However, I can understand it might get tiresome introducing yourself if you join a bunch of forums all around the same time. I try not to copy and paste any of my introduction topics, I usually just stick with the usual "Hey my name is Ravenfreak, I'm 33 and I like so and so and enjoy this and that." I don't go into great detail, but I also try to change up my introductions a little bit so they're not the same on every community.
