What do you guys think about sites copying your content without asking or crediting you?

Now I don't mean taking inspiration either or taking an idea and changing it up.

I mean selecting text, copying it, and then pasting it. Not even changing one little bit. Do you think its fine? Or wrong 🤔?

I think it's completely wrong. Use your own content.
Yeah, that's what I thought. But it's apparently not a problem when I raised it up and I'm in the wrong for pointing it out:tearsofjoy:

Well, I personally believe if they are a member here then they should be called out.

Well now I’m curious.
Stealing content is the cop out of being a webmaster. That’s all I have to say on that part.

I've always had someone copy something that I either wrote, or co-authored for forum rules, guidelines or terms of use. Usually from people who don't want to take their time to do the hard work in learning how to write something similar.

I agree, it is annoying, especially if the person doesn't think you will find out by looking up it yourself, or if someone else notifies you about the copying.

I mean, common people. If you really like it that much, I would rather get paid for the writing, than to have it blatantly copied without permission.

Copying content is such an iffy subject. If it's a blatant copy and paste, I'd act like a big shot and send a PM to the copier claiming that I filed a DMCA and I am potentially pursuing a lawsuit. Now am I really doing any of those things? Probably not. A lot of these copiers are typically inexperienced webmasters and the whole threat of "DMCA" scares them into removing said content. Beyond that, there's only so much you can do, especially when it comes to content on forums, like discussion topics.

Copying content is not ethically moral. And will catch up to you over time. I've had people run RSS feeds of my site before and copy almost everything. Guess I could sort of take it as a compliment but was a bit annoying.

I personally would not mind if they at least cited the original author and cited the source (link). Copyright and plagiarism is a serious matter that should not be risked. Always cite where you get information out of respect and honesty when work is not your own.
