Hey, so what's your take on management that is corrupt? They're have been quite a
few corrupt staff on FP before, I wont name but it's pretty easy to guess who.

What do you do on a forum like that? Leave or put up with it, what's everyones take on
management or staff members that abuse their powers and don't agree with anyone else.

Discuss...

If they abuse their powers they lose their powers simple really.

Do you really think that's a smart thing to say on here? Bound to start arguments.

As for corrupt management, not really but recently I came across an extremely corrupt moderator and was banned, and the administrator wasn't really helpful.

Well I'm not bothered, it's the truth. But really I'm sort of aiming this from the regular users
prospective rather then being from the Admins point of view.

If the forum's staff and management are corrupt, I'd leave.

If my own forum's staff/management are corrupt, I'd remove them immediately.

I think Shotgun pretty much spoke for any of us. I've been on forums full of corruption in the past and believe me I'd never do it again. I browse a forum to get an idea of what its atmosphere is before joining, and if I pick up any nastiness, or abuse by staff or a general sense of neglect by staff, I'm out.

That said, I have observed that many if not most members of a forum who are active on it will put up with so much crap from abusive management. It just astounds me what I've seen people take, and time and again they remain where they are despite often being on a forum that openly displays links to other sites on the same subject.

Every forum has had corrupt staff, they always will, it doesn't matter what forum you to try to make look bad

If I was on the forum, I wouldn't care
If I was the Admin, I will restrict account privileges and demote them.

Staff members on a forum should never really abuse their powers. If a forum has a corrupt staff, then I generally just avoid it.

Uh, define corruption. No forum is a democracy so naturally the administration have the power to do as they please. If they start trampling on the userbase with that power then they are doing nothing ''wrong'' by it. But they are running a huge risk of driving members off which is a very bad idea.

It's still by no means wrong or corrupt though... Just stupid.

I suppose you'd define "corrupt" as breaking the rules of their own forum. However, if the forum is just a hateful community, then there's really no such thing as "corruption." xP

Corruption on forums would be a staff member/admin justifying the rules to suit their situation. That is corruption.

That is definitely corrupt as well, but some forums have staff members who blatantly violate their own rules.

Yeah, but they do it to make sure they don't end up in trouble.

Call it what you will but I know I won't be a part of any forum in which the staff are keen on trampling on/otherwise abusing the members. I can't stand cockiness or cheekiness or nastiness on a board and if other people want to run their forums with any of that, fine. I just won't be a part of it.

No forum is a democracy but I think we can tell when someone is power tripping.

I'm sure those of you who say they wouldn't be members of a board with corrupt staff members wouldn't quit visiting someplace like DP because of it where there are a couple too. I recall reading about a guy who got banned there because he didn't like the service an article rewriter did, and the article rewriter was a friend of a mod. Things like that happen everywhere, not much you can do.

Yeah, exactly why I don't go there any more, or rarely. DP is one of the most corrupt forums you'll ever find.

Ive seen my share of corrupt staffers and people abusing their powers. It happens. Good thing is, there is millions of forums on the internet so if you dont like what is going on at one, you can move on to the next.

I agree. I think many users loose sight of the fact that forums are not democracies. Just like any business in the real world, admins and mods may reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.

I do tend to avoid forums that have long-winded threads of members debating/complaining about how "corrupt" the management is.
