How much has your life changed due to Covid-19? Were you out of work? Were you forced to work from home? Did you have to stay home with the kids while they were out of school? How has Covid-19 affected your life?

While I haven't been out of work, life has been vastly different due to COVID-19. When I go to work, I have to take my temperature and a coworker has to witness me doing it, showing that I don't have a fever. My girlfriend and I went and tried a nice hibachi restaurant a couple weeks ago, and our temperatures were taken by an employee before we were even allowed to enter the building. I'm also a Vandy football season ticket holder, but their home games have been students only so far. I'm a sports buff, so I usually go to a lot of different football/basketball games. That isn't happening right now. These examples are obviously little things, but I guess it's just so many little things rolled into one. Life is just different. If we're being honest, the results of this upcoming election will have been significantly impacted by COVID.

How has COVID impacted your world?

With me, I haven't been at work since the first of the year pretty much, as I broke my left wrist on Jan 1st, and Covid shutdowns happened when I was given the go ahead to work. With everything, I am now tempted to apply to Lowes or Home Depot, because the starting wage is decent, and it has insurance.

Were you able to get that unemployment sweetener ($$$) since you had already been out of work for that long?

Far less money coming in and more money going out that what is going on with me

Not much at all. I generally don't like going outside anyway if I can help it, so covid hasn't really changed my life all that much, except for the few times I do have to venture out into the world (the graphics suck BTW) and I gotta wear a mask, which I don't have a problem doing for the short period of time I'm out and about.

I stayed employed although schools are operating incredibly different this year and last part of last year. The amount of paperwork I do has increased (yay). We do temp checks for staff and students. We spend a lot of the day telling kids (and some teachers to put their masks on). I don’t hold in person iep meetings anymore. Kids are here one day and off two weeks randomly.
My wife is on maternity leave but she works at a nursing home so not a whole lot has changed for her except it’s a lot more stringent in terms of visitors and ppe.
Personally, we don’t eat out anymore. We still go places but stay well away from people especially if they don’t have masks on (which I’m fine with, I don’t like people). We are a lot more cautious going around family and friends, especially older family. I’ve had a lot more family time so it’s not been all bad although I do miss Chinese buffets. I’m lucky in that we are both essential workers. My heart goes out to those more negatively affected.

How much has your life changed due to Covid-19?

It's kind of like YES and NO. I couldn't go out and buy anything or eat out during the lockdown. But what did change my life more and forever happened year before. I was still staggering from my divorce and depressed about my ex wife because I still had feelings for her. I had felt forced to file for divorce and her cheating on me or signing the papers didn't make me feel any better. It just felt more like another blow and another loss. 2019 was the year my ex wife came home and asked for a divorce. I was devastated. I think being depressed over her was what made me worry less about the pandemic.

Were you out of work?

No. I was allowed to work through the pandemic. My profession was seen as essential. People need operational vehicles to get from point A to point B. I work in communications at a dealership and we have a service department. People have their cars worked on that have broke down.

Were you forced to work from home?

No.

Did you have to stay home with the kids while they were out of school?

They sat in the lounge some days and watched tv or stayed with relatives and my ex in-laws.

How has Covid-19 affected your life?

I was hoping it'd stay in China like it did in the early 2000's. I had hoped the government would cancel all flights and traffic in and out of the USA. When I heard it reached America I facepalmed. I felt all of this could have been avoided. Even with the health guidelines, it seems no one gives a crap. I've never been infected by it. I've been lucky. I don't like wearing a mask everywhere but I do know why we have to. I got vaccinated recently because I don't want to get hit by the virus and die from it or give it to my son who suffers from seasonal asthma.

Life hasn't changed much for me. I get paid for raising my granddaugher and I get my state pension so money wise it was fine. Obviously I am more restricted but my wild days are over so socially it hasn't affected me much either. I do worry about catching the virus a little but I was vaccinated 2 months ago so coming up for my second jab in a month when I will feel much safer.
