I'm thinking about creating a new forum. I need your guys opinion on what type of forum should I create. It will come with a TLD and it will be powered by MyBB.

Do something that you haven't already done before, even if it means experimenting with a different forum software.

I'm using MyBB period....

Do you think I should start a Modern Warfare 2 forum?

Well, I've seen plenty of forums relating to a single game, and they never offer anything new. Just brainstorm a whole load of different things, and try not to be too specific.

That shows how open minded you are..

Sam gives you an idea and you throw it away...

Anyways just experiment with ideas.

I'm just not good with phpBB nor SMF.

I know how to work with phpBB, so I would probably be quick to scrap the idea of using another software too 😛 .

That is why the word experiment is put. Maybe you can get more familiar with it.Heck thats how I learned.

Now I know how to use all three and theme for two of them.(I am learning how to theme smf lol..)

He doesn't want software ideas and he probably already decided to use MyBB. Why don't we start giving him forum ideas instead of turning this into another forum software war? There are plenty of those topics, all topics do not have to discuss your personal software preference.

Hmm, I suggest doing something that interests you, and something more specific than just a general forum. Most forums which the admin doesn't care about, even if they have a TLD, will die quickly. If someone makes a general discussion forum and has little interest in general discussion, it will probably die. If an admin makes a promotion forum and doesn't care about helping people, it will die. And so on.

Bit late, isn't it though? COD 7 seems to be coming right around the corner, though. Either them or even a general Call of Duty forum is good. I might consider joining.

Well, you could always try MyBB or SMF, learn some of their features.

I own the domain "cod7forum.com" and I'm planning on starting a Call of Duty 7 forum sometime soon. Let me know if you'd be interested, Dillon.

What topics interest you? Is there any area of your work / studies / hobbies that interests you and where you feel you could help other people with your knowledge.

The most important thing when choosing a subject for a forum is interest. If your going to get bored after a couple weeks forget it. You need to choose something that you like to do whether that be anything from cooking to fishing, gaming to reading or anything in between.

I completely agree, you have to enjoy the site yourself, otherwise you will just get bored.
