Well, this is my very first blog post @ XCodeHQ, and i thought, why not make it a good one? So anyway, i wil be writing about promotion forums, because i see that there are starting to get many, many new promotion forums every now and than. So if you are deciding or planning to create a promotion forum, please read this guide first before thinking about it. I see so many promotion forums created every week, and also see a handful of them closing down. Before i start, i want to say that this is from my point of view, and i hope no one gets offended by this whatsoever. Sit back, relax and enjoy the rest of the post!
Amongst the tons and tons of promotion forums i have stepped on to, my favorite one has to be ForumPromotion.net. It is one of the most successful promotion forums i have seen. It has over 600,000 posts and over 8,000 members. So what's the secret to such success?
Uniqueness
Yes, this is one of the important key to success. Like i said earlier, there are tons of promotion forums out there, and you don't want to be same as them. To stand out, you have to be unique. Be original. One good way is to have a custom style for your forum, custom graphics etc.
Professionalism
Another important key to success. Professionalism. So how do you ensure your forum is professional? Stuffs like hiring random people to the staff team, your staff or you quarrelling publicly on the forum, poor grammar, and stuffs like that. Example, if you see a member quarrelling with another member on the forum, don't encourage it, end it. It would be much more professional to take things via PM instead of replying to the topic.
Services
This is a one thing a promotion forum must have. The thought of a promotion forum just having a forum to post topics about their forum, and having extra services like banner advertising, ugh, it just won't work! A very unique service that i have encountered a few months ago, which originated from FP, was the Auction House service. Its where members can bid for some good ad slots available in FP. I thought it was rather unique and great. Make sure your services consists of uniqueness and professionalism.
