Creating a promotion site.

Hi,

I want to create a promotion forum but want to make it unique and attract visitors. There are a few out there so what can I do to make a unique one?

Anyone have any ideas ?

I honestly think the niche for promotion forums is tapped and overused.

There are large forums like Forum Promotion already, and many others that were created to mimic it... There really isn't many "unique" ideas you could to do truly separate yours from the rest.

My overall idea: Have it be a "looking for staff" / "looking to be on staff" forum ONLY.

There are way too many promotion forums out there.
Honestly I would try to find another topic

My advice is don't make something and then try and find a problem for it to solve. Find a problem and then work out a solution.

In this case, the need to promote forums / blogs / websites is already handled by dozens of better established sites, so just making another one is not going to draw in anyone because these sites already do it better.

If you want to be unique, find something that people need which hasn't been covered already, or find something poorly covered and focus on delivering that better.

You can make a promotion site if you want...

But start small, go with realistic expectations. (Maybe start with one service like the promotion directory. Don't try having packagers or reviews up front because you won't be able to handle it and getting staff is incredibly tough at the best of times. Especially for packagers which tend to have high turn over rates. Instead built up to those services.)

Also, don't expect the site to explode in popularity over night. Expect to work at making this bigger over a longer period of time. (A year or two likely.) If you can't commit to that then it might be best not to open a promotion forum.

Try using the idea of an advertising service, where instead of it being that of a typical ad service that is on the forum itself, make it into a exchange of sorts, where the ad shows up on other forums in the same spot. Basically by making the ad service into a advertising network, it allows you to increase traffic to your site and other sites as well, by offering that space to all users of every forum that has that ad space.

Well good luck, you're going to need it. Here are a couple of things I'd like to see on a promotion forum:

-Facebook Swarm
Members join a swarm team and like other members pages. They have to like half the pages to get their own page listed in the next swarm.

- Graphic Services
Logos/ Signatures/ Banners.
