In the help pages of Google Webmaster tools, Google talks about how they consider overly optimized forum signature or post links to be another form of 'link scheme'-that is a backlink intended to manipulate Google into believing the site being linked to is popular or for the purpose of passing page rank (usually without the site owner's permission). These type of link schemes are considered spammy and manipulative by Google and could cause your site to get flagged for artificial backlinking practices.

Here is the example they give:

Forum comments with optimized links in the post or signature, for example:
Thanks, that’s great info!
- Paul
paul’s pizza san diego pizzabest pizza san diego

In this example, it would be just as easy to pick just one keyword phrase and encapsulate that within a few sentences of related text.

For instance, you could say: "Want to experience the best gourmet pizza in San Diego? Visit Paul's Pizza. Fresh made daily with fresh dough, vine ripe tomatoes and organic vegetables. A mouth watering experience you won't want t miss!'

See how the forum signature now resembles more of an advertisement, aimed at enticing a real human visitor to click through, rather than a spammy backlink for search engines to find?

The phrase 'Paul's Pizza' could be hyperlinked. Selecting just one keyword or phrase to highlight and then including other relevant details about "paul's pizza" such as how they only use organic ingredients for toppings is an ideal solution and seems more plausible when presented in the forum signature as most times when a site is linking to another in the form of a recommendation, they will include a few sentences of text to support the hyperlink and not just include the hyperlink on it's own.

This technique can be applied to any type of site you are linking to in your forum signature; whether you own a technology blog, admin forum or recipe directory. Just be sure to include enough relevant details about your site's best features in the signature line, not just a few hyperlinked keywords. Most times, you will have ample room to embellish text in your forum signature, so be sure to use it.

In this way you can still advertise your site (in hopes of getting click throughs) and potentially get a backlink without incurring Google's wraith for spammy backlinking.

i have bit doubt with this what if the site is related to the forum nice then wouldn't be counted as a relevant link?
