Have you ever had to deal with a member who criticises what you add to the forum?

SCENARIO:

You add something which you believe adds to the forum and it took you a long time to get it right.

Next time you log on you find a message from a member.

"Hey love the new addition but it don't work.:

OK you think. Despite looking there seems to be nothing wrong so you leave it until you see the person.
When you do that person says " Oh by the way I found out what was wrong"

You are never told what the problem was.

Also what about the moaners who don't like the colour, the theme, the new function?

How would you deal with these people?

Hasn't happened to me yet but my dalek will be waiting to exterminate them if it ever happens.

I'll probably take that into consideration and only if it helps to make my forum a better forum..if the person is doing nothing but saying negative stuff about your forum.. give him/her a warning.. if he/she keeps on with it.. perm BAN.

Also what about the moaners who don't like the colour, the theme, the new function?

I'd say get more than 1 theme installed.. that way they can use whatever theme, color, designs they like.
As for new function you need to wait and hear it from more than just 1 person.. if everyone agrees to remove it, remove it. Perhaps you could make a poll for it whether it would be useful or not.

I only use the one theme mainly due to fonts.

One example would be lime green which is very hard to see against a white background whereas on black it looks ok.

Does away with the 'No Neon Font' rule.

True which is why I never like light themes in first place. You could probably find dark themes..for I'm not sure what type of forum software you have..

Depends upon the form of criticism. If it's constructive (ie. helpful) then I have no problem with it. 90% of the time it is. However if someone just comes up and starts saying that the forum is crap and won't give a reason I'll either, ignore them initially if it's over PM, or if it's in a thread - warn them. If they persist, then I'll suspend their posting abilities for a few days. If they take it to the PM system - suspend them completely for a week. If they come back and do it again - two week suspension. After that, it's a ban.

Oh yea, these people just want to get under your skin. I wouldn't even consider them Members.
