I think that forums are over saturated and some niches are too crowded that any attempt to start a new forum into the same overcrowded niche are less fruitful.

For example, I have very less chances of people joining a new gaming forum compared to people joining a forum solely based on 'Mario Kart'.

Does this fact deter you from taking up new forum projects?

I wouldn't say all forums related are crowded, For an example gaming latest an website that's all about discussions on gaming and media and they nicely put the website together without over loading. And of course they talk about Mario Kart 😛

Starting an new project you do have to think about the nich, and what can be added or what can be done camparing to others that don't. But doesn't make any difference for some owners where they build open and website is just dead

Yeah, it's good to have your own special niche so that you can appeal to members. And in particular, it's good to feel a need that people have for a community that isn't already filled. You can still succeed in a popular niche though. For example, why is Rachael's forum so successful when there are many forums in the same niche that were created first? The have a great community of members, which is what's most important.

I get that allot and I get the back end and the other grow.

I agree, some niches, especially when you look generally as you referenced with video games vs. mario kart, are extraordinary crowded. In those cases, I think a great way to build your site is to focus on a specific component of the niche and then slowly expanding as your site grows.

I definitely agree there can be too much crowding, and that the most oversaturated niches currently are gaming, general chat, and (especially) promotion forums. I don't think that you should not enter a forum niche if it's a topic/area that you're very interested in, just be sure to make your forum stand out from the crowd and offer features/discussion that competitors don't. Another thing you can do is combine two similar interests into one idea, for example my forum is based on both travel and languages- where the travel forum niche is very competitive combining both is differentiating. It helps that travel and languages are two interlocking ideas, so they go hand-in-hand.

Sure you can try your luck on an overdone subject and maybe it will work out for the best..... But, if you can't beat them, why not join the competitor forums and just be an active contributor on those communities instead? If you really are passionate about the niche then I'm sure you'll be happy to be there, even if you're not in charge.

More the passion, the more you want to be in charge.

Are you taking about yourself or speaking on behalf of all people? Because I think if someone is really passionate about a topic, in the end they'll be happy to settle on being a part of a community of like-minded individuals (regardless if they have admin privileges or not).

The whole concept is irrelevant because it's all about advertising. I mean, sure there might be millions of quality internet marketing forums, but if you got the advertising dollars to come on top, then it doesn't matter.

Gaming and "general" are probably the most overcrowded niche by far.
I don't expect any new forum covering these topics to succeed.

not all gaming website that can get good results

A high-quality one with advertising putting it on top will do it - because it's thrown in their face.
