Boring, plain and really unappealing colours

Those are the colors I was asked to use. If you're referring to their low saturation levels, then that's just a personal preference of mine. But, I could probably brighten up the image of the cupcake and the color pattern a tad.

the colours are so bad you will need to confront your client and tell them that in your opinion and research the colours made the site look unappealing.

I really like the design itself, but I have to agree with others on the colors. They aren't something I would expect to see on a site for cupcakes, but if that's what they wanted there's nothing you can do about that. When I think cupcakes, I think pastel colors, light and happy colors. Maybe it's because cupcakes make me happy, I don't know. It's a nice design overall though.
