Okay, on Marie 1988 we have been getting hit with steady spam...no where near as constant as when I had Chatting Time. However, these are human spammers with the common email addresses the rest of us use. What I would like are suggestions I could add for filling out the profile field when registering on our site. Someone on our host's support forum actually recommended Admin activation as a last resort. I wouldn't have minded resorting to that, but I implemented this on an older forum I had once and I always forgot to go to the ACP and check for new registerations, with the result being some very pissed off members. I know packages on some forums frown on email activation, but really, what would you rather have? A link that only takes but seconds to activate your account or having no authentication at all, so as to invite tons of bots to register? I don't know about you guys, but I prefer the first option myself. And if I request a package on a forum and a packager won't do it because of the email activation being on...it's their loss, not mine!

Anyway, sorry to go off topic. But if you could just give me an overall list of possible profile fields to add for new users, that'd seriously be appreciated. Thanks!

What do you mean by a list of profile fields? I'm not quite sure on what you are trying to achieve.

I didn't say a lift. Okay, you know how sometimes when you register on forums, there's the basic profile fields like the birthdate, Website address, etc? And then you have other profile fields you have like a way to put it if you have MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, etc. And then there's the custom profile fields...kind of a way to get to know your members. It's so hard to explain, I think FP has something like this.

Sorry, my mistake. I meant list. So, you want users to be able to put in their social network information (or any other information) in their profile along with their birthdate and website etc which are already in the profile settings?

Well, what I want to do is some kind of anti-spam measure if you would. I'm on ProphpBB's free plan, so we don't have options for Captcha settings. I think just to clarify things I'll post a link as to what I asked them about Captchas on ProphpBB's support forum. The staff's response may help you understand better because I don't know how to explain it: http://support.prophpbb.com/post23871.html#p23871 Peteh was the one who responded. Hopefully if you read his suggestion, you'll understand what I want because I don't know how else to explain it.
