Hi guys,

I'm interested in getting a custom XenForo theme made for a new project I have in mind. The only catch is I only want to pay on completion. Obviously payment will be made before you give me the files but, so far, developers have quoted me a price and demanded either 50% or the full amount upfront before I've even seen what they have to offer. As a web design project isn't something you can see a picture of on Amazon.co.uk, for example, (it's unique to you!) how is it possibly possible to know what you're getting before you get it? This is the way I, as a customer think and I need a designer who is willing to respect that if there are any out there. If you do a good job and I like what you've designed I'll pay you for it. However, if I don't like it then I won't (but you won't give it to me either. Admittedly you'll have wasted your time but that's pretty much the same as a customer trialling a product then deciding not to purchase). I'm also looking for a cheaper deal than these professional companies who quote me like $599 ($349 being the cheapest offer I've acquired thus far). $350 for a forum seems a little hefty, especially since I'm not sure how everything is going to pan out yet. I understand time is money, and I respect that, but I'm not looking to have custom plugins made or anything like that. Not yet anyway. For now I just want a nice theme that looks good but isn't over the top. Am I asking too much? If not, contact me. 🙂

I only know of one person who will accept the entire thing AFTER they done the work.

That would be brad.

Reason why people request at least 50% up front is to stop people from getting them to do the work, then end up never paying

Think of a free trial: if a customer doesn't like the product they won't pay to renew it. In much the same way if a theme isn't good enough then the customer won't pay to purchase it. The designer doesn't have to deliver the product unless it's paid for, but I don't agree with paying 50%+ upfront unless it's fully refundable in the event I don't like the work they've done. Judging by what I've read on the web, getting a refund is nigh on impossible. Thanks for the recommendation though. 🙂
