Have you ever seen a forum owner who is addicted to modifying the theme, style, or customization of the platform they use?

They constantly change themes. They constantly move boards and categories around. They constantly make changes to the forum.

I think customization addiction could be worse for a forum than poor content.

Most poor content still gets a response, even if it's a poor response, it's still a response.

But with constantly changes of the theme and customization on the forum, you make members have to get used to changes and new things all the time.

People don't like a lot of change.

What do you all think about this theory? Could there be any truth in it?

I think it can get a bit overwhelming if the admins are constantly changing the themes constantly. I think it's fine to change the theme for Holidays, but even then sometimes there are Holidays that are back to back and then the theme gets changed quickly. Also if they're constantly changing the layout of the forums it can be hard to find subforums after they've moved them.

I have to agree. Don’t get me wrong, change here and there can be a good thing…but if something is constantly changing and I have to search for things that used to be in one spot or have to get used to new themes all the time, it would definitely make me question whether or not I want to continue to use that site. Once I get used to something a certain way, I can only tolerate so much change in a short amount of time. 😛

I am guilty of being addicted to customizing my forum. I'm a perfectionist, and I'm often staring at my site thinking how we can improve.

Yeah, I have seen many sites that have been fully edited by the person of that kind, I meanIi have done many edits myself in the passed but not extreme

I don't classify it as an addiction, rather it is simply a good taste for personalization and that's it.
