I just saw this on the news. A old dude just 'messed around' for lack of a better term with a 15 year old girl on cam.

That is disgusting, really who would do that? They are starting to crack in on this and starting to peel back teenage privacy with all these different applications and softwares. For phone too, for so called 'sexting'.

Actually.. from what I've heard.. sexting is only illegal if images get involved.

No but seriously, whilst what he did was pretty rough, the girl isn't exactly innocent, you do get a choice over the internet.

This is not the Internet's fault, there was no lack of laws, security, or privacy. In cases like these the only thing to blame is ignorance or lack of understanding. If the girl subjected herself to that then she clearly enjoyed it, or was doing it for money reasons (i'm sure a lawsuit will follow his jail sentence). On the offhand that she was mentally ill, why would her parents allow her as much freedom as she clearly had? Again, not the Internet's fault, and certainly the current laws are not to blame. No need for unneeded security that wastes resources and makes people feel as if they're being watched, no good will come.
