Darting animal infront of your car

You are driving late at night in a safe but deserted neighborhood when a dog suddenly darts in front of your car. Though you slam on the breaks, you hit the animal. Would you stop to see how injured the animal was? If you did so and found out the dog was dead but had a name tag, would you contact the owner?

Oh my goodness! Wut a nightmare scenario. I would call the cops and let them handle it. You never know wut the owner could do in such a situation :/

I would definitely stop to check on the animal and probably take it to an vet's office. There are some veterinarian ERs that will take care of an animal any time day or night. I'd have them contact the owner.

Roadkill, I have dealt with that. At times you have no choice not to dart away if there are cars around.
