What do you think about the "-" In a doman name, 'www.forum-promotion.com' for example?.

There was a little discussion on Hyphenated Domains here, viewtopic.php?f=26&t=93703 🙂

Personally, I don't see a problem with them. Although, I think I would prefer to not have a hyphen in my domain.

I agree with Eternal, I do not see a problem in having domains with dashes in, but it does make it harder to type.

I think it is stupid. In the 100's of domains I own none have hyphens. I wouldn't buy any domain with a hyphen.

I don't mind. After all, just like with long urls, that's what the favorites bar on your browser is for. Just click on the link and it'll take you right to the site in question...however, I do agree with the majority that it is better to go without the dashes if at all possible.

Edit: Put domain instead of dashes...my bad. Was at home sick today so my thinking isn't the greatest right now.

There are some very successful sites with hyphens in their domains, such as the ones mentioned in that thread. The fact that a domain has a hyphen in it, doesn't stop you from making it hugely successful.

Should only be your last resort of acquiring a certain domain with a certain keyword in it.

Not at all. It can help seperate keywords in domain names, hence my own domain http://www.video-game-chat.com

IDK about you but I think it looks much cleaner and readable that way vs all clumped up together minus the dashes.

Dashes in domain don't look good but from SEO point of view it is SEO friendly as search engine treats dashes like spaces.. and they have higher ranking too...
