Database Rolled Back 2 Days

Hello All,

As many of you have already noticed the database had been rolled back two days to Jun 5th this morning. We do greatly apologize for this inconvenience. This was due to an unfortunate event where our raid array had a complete failure so no data was able to be recovered after the drives failed. The array failed during the incremental backups we take every 2 days so unfortunately we were not able to have a secondary backup which would have been up until last night.

I greatly apologize for this inconvenience and can assure you this is not something that usually will happen and has not happened previously to my knowledge and will not in the future. I will be taking extra measures to insure this will not happen again by adding a additional method of offsite backups which will be downloaded to a local server every 24 hours.

I appreciate everyone's support and patience while I found out what the actual cause of the issue was. It was something that could not really be avoided but we will be taking extra precautions to make sure it wont happen again. If you have a thread that you posted that you would like to see if It can be recovered please PM me. I have been able to recover most things from Google cache as our forum is crawled very frequently. If you have any other changes that happened within the last 2 days and would like assistance you can PM me also regarding those.

These things happen from time to time. It could have been worse. At Least it was only 2 days lost and not longer.
 
Ah I see... At first I thought it was mod install gone wrong XD


Never seen this happen though on the time I been a member here.

It's going to take a while for me to PM you 🙁 Need to get 10 posts again lol. Having a site this big, it's only understandable. Glad to know you all are doing the best you can. As for how much FP Cash I had, I'm unsure, about 5 topics, and 10 posts worth.

What about FP$ payments to people we have already made?.

Oh and Just curious How big is the Database?. It must be massive with over 1 Million posts. xD

In case you aren't aware, you can see what transactions haven't been lost by looking here - points.php?mode=logs From that it may help work ot what payments have been lost so you can make them again or request other users to resend to you.

I can vouch that the db here is pretty large :lol:
 
I hope this doesn't become a common occurrence. I can tell you I won't be using this forum much longer if it does, and I'm sure I'm not alone in that.

This was a one time occurrence and there was really nothing we could do to prevent it. Things like this happen even to the best forums.
 
Personally, it doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me.

I'm just glad everything's back now. 🙂
 
You can thank [user]LunarScorpio[/user] for making sure all services that needed to be re-done have been completed. Everything should be up to date again.
