Dead 9,000 Member forum?

I've got a dead forum: http://tweet.netboards.org
It's got 1,500 more members then FP!
What should I do with it? Sell it? Or start making the forum active again?

If you still want to be dedicated to it, maybe you can start trying to make the board active again? Send out a mass email if you have that feature and start posting around and creating topics and things like that.

As ashley said, create an atmosphere that they will want to return to.
Notify them all and they'll return in due course 🙂

It might be worth mentioning that most seem to be spam bots... In other words not real users.

Well, if you just sent out the email today, you can't expect something to happen straight away. Just like with a brand new forum, reviving a forum takes time. Maybe start promoting it again to regain interest, and maybe new and older members alike will come back.

Like: AronA ARONLY AronS etc
And words like thjfgjtdbj
I'm not sure if anyone is real.
Maybe a few.

Maybe the forums has no activation in place. No activation a heck load of bots.

Unfortunately it looks like they aren't real. Some of them would be though. Try selling it.

It's phpBB2-based, with no activation.

That's probably why.

I'd just be best off deleting the whole forum. I excpect only around 10 users are real, as spam bots all have websites leading to random pages.
I don't know. I don't think I have a option of CATCPA or whatever it's called.
Is it really worth anything? Probably not.
No one would offer anything for it.

I have even seen worse: a forum of hundreds of thousands of posts... being contributed to by over a hundred spam bots active at once.

Ooh, yeah, Daisy, if worse comes to worse, I'd probably just delete the site as well, especially considering that there are probably more spam bots than anything else. You could always start from scratch and try again in the future if you really wanted, though.
