After seeing what rape did to a few close friends of mine I thought that they really need to go to jail for the rest of my life. However, I am now dating a girl who was raped last summer. It has completely destroyed her life and she has nightmares about it and is afraid to roam the streets alone.

I beat the living crap out of the rapist after she told me, he literally got a beat down and I tried to force a confession out of him through elbows to the face, but he kept his mouth shut. This is good as I would probably go to jail due to the beating if he confessed.

However, I strongly believe that rapists deserve the death penalty after seeing what rape did to my girl.

What are all your views?

I think they should be eligible for the death penalty, but it should, as always, be case-by-case.

Ehh I don't consider death penalty a punishment for any criminal.

Cranos, unfortunately, criminals would like the death penalty for you. Some people are a danger to society. They know what they are doing. Innocent people try to live out their daily lives and murderers try to kill people. They have resolved themselves to commit a crime, so if that crime is major and we know beyond a shadow of a doubt they did it, then they should die. Sorry, but I don't even try to have empathy with cold-blooded murders, killers, and malicious criminals.

My opinion is that this should be in the Debate Corner.

*poof*

There it is 😉

Are you serious? Death penalty for rape? I won't deny rape can be such a heinous crime, but it does not deserve the death penalty. It deserves to have the offender incarcerated.

Now, it is case-by-case. But a rapist shouldn't get the death penalty just for committing the crime of rape. If this went through, how many people would try to have theft be a death penalty offense?

The death penalty is the answer in some cases, but not in all.

Death penalty for rape i feel is a bit extreme. Especially when there are women that make it up. I know its a small amount but its these people who stop women who have actually been raped speak out because they are worried people wont believe them.

I don't exactly believe in the death penalty, but I do think that there should be some change in the jail sentence. Make it equivilant to murder (in the 1st degree) - 20 to life.

I have been offered the following:
-A hit by the mafia on the target (broken knee caps)
-A hit by the hells angels on the target (beat down)
-A hit by an associate of a friend (death)

I am not saying murder is alright for a rapist as all three offers were serious and could have been done in one phone call, but I told them to not do this as I don't believe in murder.

However, the death penalty for people like him is reasonable in my eyes.

I am not saying for statutory rape. I am talking about a man raping a girl and knowing that he did it and knowing what he was doing. They deserve the death penalty. I am talking about how my girl was pinned down and beat when she did not comply.

He has threatened her to do it again and has stalked her and followed her on the streets.
And you tell me he deserves to walk free at some point in his life?

No.

It's not a matter of if he OR she "deserves" to walk free, it's just morale. Yes it is not moral to rape someone, but it isn't moral to lock a human being forever, or kill them. The punishment is given because of the nature of non-Christian societies where they believe this is the right way to go about it.

I understand that, she's your girlfriend, so anything I say might not even be taken into consideration, however, if a guy rapes a girl, and he pre-planned it, that is still not justification enough for murder.

HOWEVER, lets say a guy has rapes more than a dozen little girls, under the age of 10. The rapes are so brutal that it's sickening to even think about, and the girls are far from sane from it. Now, for the rest of their life, they will be scared, humiliated, and untrustworthy of anyone.

In the death penalty is even considered for the above case, I'd call it well justified. Because first of all, these are children. Crimes against children, mainly sexual, is very common, unfortunately. The perps are usually the immediate family, maybe just the father.

I know no one cares, but these rapists aren't totally to blame for what they do. I'm not saying if they planned it for months (or even years) that they aren't held accountable, what I'm saying is, the people who commit sex crimes are often victims them-selves.

Statistically, if you've been sexually abused, you're more likely to do it to someone at some point. Not everyone does, but some do. People feel dirty after they've been sexually abused. They feel like they're trapped somewhere they can't get out of. Always asking "Why me?", but never getting an answer. Always taking extra showers/baths, trying so hard to be clean.

Rape is the most heinous crime. I don't care what anyone says, murder is not the worst, rape is. But I still don't think the death penalty is legalized in rape. Incarcerate them for their entire life, but save the death penalty for people who work with terrorists to take down our country.

First off I think your girlfriend should be discussing this with the police, if he's making threats and still stalking her? Did she not report it in the first place? However much you want to protect her this is not something you should take into your own hands, that's what laws are for, even if they appear to be too lenient. He's far more likely to be scared by the thought of another man raping him in jail than a good beating, he's probably had them several times before.

I'm against the death penalty because it doesn't accomplish anything. Really, how would putting to death a rapist or some other person who commits a heinous crime make the world a better place? It wouldn't. The damage they did is still there. Nothing has changed, except another life was just taken in this fancy justification for murder called the "death penalty."

I think the proper way to handle people who commit heinous crimes is to make them useful to society. Turn them into a work force. Many of them are already put to work cleaning trash off the sides of streets. Might as well put them to work building our streets, constructing our buildings, etc. These people have spent their lives robbing from society, so turn that around and make them give back to society! THAT is justice.

I think the motivation to support punishment in the form of death stems only from the desire for revenge or retribution, not justice. In other words, a desire to act on their own anger towards such heinous crimes instead of moving on. Yet, it is a waste. Again, it won't change anything. The damage is already done.

You basically stooped down to the rapists level and beat him down.. That's just as bad.

The right thing to do would be contacting the police.

Yeah she finally called the cops, but there's no evidence so the trial would most likely turn out into him walking out free as it would be a he said she said case.

He was 19 and raped her when she was 15, he also raped another friend of mine who was 13 when he was 19 and another 15 year old when he was 19.

I know all three of them and am pretty close to them and one of them I used to be real close with in the past.

You guys are right, maybe the death penalty is going a little too far, but if I was going to change my views it would be imprisonment for life as he has told me personally that he will not stop and me fighting him won't stop him from doing it again to those three girls and the other girls he has raped in the past.

look at this death is a scene of freedom that why rapist rape a scene they can do anything they want but i think a life in prison is worse then being dead. And if you hope hard enough maybe they'll get raped in prison

I could care less what you think because he deserved it. He really did.
He pinned down the girls and raped them while hitting them if they resisted. If you think he deserves to not feel the pain I am against you. And I am against anyone who thinks I was in the wrong.

I was in the right. The cops know now and the girls are going for interviews tomorrow with the police. My girl at the time (now my ex, the one that was raped) told the cops that I beat the living crap out of the kid (the rapist) and they said they understood and would not get me in trouble...I am on probation and it was considered okay.

Eye for an eye. Tooth for a tooth. Limb for a limb. That's normally what kind of person I am.

However, it really isn't all that simple. Death Penalty for rapists. You have to remember that not all rapists are rapists.
Say an 18 year old male, and a 17 year old female agree to have intercourse with one another. The next day she files a report at a police station saying she was raped, and gets other people to believe it to. Since they actually did have sex, there may be enough evidence to convict the poor guy. Does giving him the death penalty really sound fair? Bad enough that he's already going to jail for several years.
Not saying that it's a common occurrence, but it happens. And it happens less than common, but more than infrequent. And this isn't the only case where it isn't as it appears. But point is, you can never be too sure. And it's no doubt a part of the reason the death penalty is looked down on.

But if you know that kid did indeed rape this girl and those other girls, and has absolutely no remorse, then yes. I believe he should die. I believe he should be burned at the stake in fact.

I honestly don't find anything morally unjust about the death penalty for scum like him. I don't care that he could have a "change in heart" and benefit society somehow in his later life. Doing something like that without any remorse at all, no way to justify it.
