Get rid of it. It's ridiculous and by putting the person to death, you're 1) Playing god and 2 ) Giving them the easy way out. It's an a lot better punishment to let someone sit in prison, and call their cell mate daddy for the rest of their life.

I do not believe anyone should play the role of grim reaper by sentencing someone to death. Death is quick and easy, painless. Instead, I say you let the prisoner rot in his prison cell. Let him think about what he did. I am against the death penalty, as who are you to decide one’s fate?

I voted yes but i say yes and no. Yes b/c i think its more of a punishment to be held in a prision for the rest of your life then to wait on death row and die. No b/c i think a select few people for whatever reasons should die either b/c they are too dangerous to be kept alive, escape alot, are hard to catch, ect.

Inmates convicted of capitol punishment aren't going to be able to escape from the federal prisons they're housed in.

Someone at one point in time must of escaped from federal prison, or i could just be totally wrong. Either way my point was that the death penalty should not be totally banned but just used in extreme cases as a very very VERY VERY last resort.

Nope. No one has ever escaped from a supermax federal prison. And state prison escapes are rare ( http://www.slate.com/id/1007001/ )

And about the fear thing, it's not scary. The death penalty isnt scary at all. It's a lot tougher on crime to house these people in prisons and have to be raped daily by their cellmate.

There was a point for years in which I did not believe in the death penalty. However, recent events in recent years have showed that there is an unfortunate need for such a system in place.

Unlike the common electric chair or things like that execution however, I think it should be painless like a lethal injection instead. Other methods are just sadistic IMO. -(-

Yes it should be destroyed. It has already been tossed in some states. If those individual states don't have any need for it, then why on earth does anyone else need it?

The thing is, no one has the right to kill someone in that way, to hold them down, and kill them. No one should have that right. Vigilantism is outlawed, why isn't Capital Punishment?

People that would normally have the Death Penalty on the table during sentencing, should get life, at the most no parole. But no one has the right to take someone's life, doing that puts us in the same league as the people we execute.

Yes is should be abolished. Tying someone down and killing them, is cold-blooded murder. I don't care if the person killed 50 people. No one has the right to kill someone.

If someone just killed someone, and is still armed, you can kill him. Because it's self-defence. But once he is no longer armed, it's no longer defence, it's murder. I don't care what you say, the Death Penalty is murder.

And murder should be abolished.

I voted NO, since I hugely support capital punishment and the death penalty.

Who is benefiting from the government killing someone as retribution for a crime?

People like me who pay taxes so those hardened criminals can have shelter, food, water, cigarettes and all the other necessities of life.

You know the death penalty costs more for tax payers, right?

You're letting them off easy giving them the death penalty. Hardened murderers deserve to rot in prison and be subjected to rape, fights, shankings, etc.
