Dedicated IP/Hosting recommendations

Question about Dedicated Ips....I am assuming that by getting a dedicated IP address, I'd be the only one using that IP correct? Even if I am on shared...

In the event of a DDOS attack or whatever they are called, will this protect me from that vs being on an IP that shared with other customers.

Also, I am looking for a good offshore company that allows Adult Content as I am trying to start up a secondary website/forum.

A dedicated IP won't protect you. If there are 100 IPs going to the same server and any one of those 100 IPs are attacked, the server goes down. A dedicated IP on shared hosting is pointless. At http://t1hosting.com, we have several firewalling scripts running to detect and prevent such attacks. Our datacenter can also assist in the event something happens that we can't handle.
