Dedicated Server - Who maintains it?

For those of you who have had a dedicated server in the past, have you maintained it yourself, or have you had somebody else do it who has a little more knowledge? What made you go with a dedicated server over a VPS?

Dedicated servers can be bought unmanaged or managed. I prefer a managed one due to my limited time. With that, of course, comes some limitations as to how much access you have to your server.

For those that want full access, unmanaged is better but it comes at the prices of eating up your time.

Really, it's just a preference.

Unmanaged servers do come at low prices compared to managed servers. Many try to save their pockets from these self managed servers.
