Default Avatars

On your forum, do you bother using default avatars for those who haven't chosen one themselves?

Example:

yes. just to keep my theme tidy

We don't here but I think it looks quite nice having default avatars.

I might once my custom skin im working on is finished. Ill have all the .psd files so I can make it match perfect. Ive noticed that forums with default ones usually have members add one up more than forums who dont -😉-

well, now that you mention it. i may create a default avatar for those who haven't, to fill in that empty slot in their mini-profile.

I see them mostly being used as a place holder, to make topics seems longer (which makes them seem more full of important information). Also, if you have a default one, members are more likely to change it once they join, which adds to make a more custom board.

I used to use Default avatars on PixelRaider, although no matter how obvious you made them I never really noticed a difference in the amount of people using custom avatars.

At least it kept things looking pretty though ~smile~

Thats true I suppose. The better the forum looks and feeling the better off you are. By having a default avatar hold that place, your keeping that constant through the entire forum making it look more streamlined imo.
