Delete Vs. Recyle

On your forums how do you handle spam content / content that breaks the rules? I personally prefer a Recycling Bin type forum which keeps the posts as evidence for the future but some forums do just directly delete spam / rule breaking posts

I just use a recycling bin because it helps the mods to look for which kinda of posts they should be removing and how to deal with it. I don't like deleting things, it creates a hole IMO.

I do not have an trash board, I know some websites that does have it where an topic gets locked an moved to trash if it doesn't get any new replies in 20 days. One website keeps on locking them and moving them and it does gets to me when they do it to my topics.

On my website I just leave them be 🙂 I lock them if I did to lock them, and only time if topic gets deleted if it's containing spam/porn/bots/ or whatnot

For spam posts that are clearly bots, I just purge everything. If it seems like a human spammer or is a very repeat occurrence, it is soft deleted and we move it to a spam/trash board that is set up on the forum in case further investigation is needed.

We usually soft delete posts. Very similar to a recycling section and it doesn't mess up stats in any way.
