Couldn't agree with you more. Member satisfaction is a very important part of running a community, if you get negative feedback then a member isn't happy, so i always try to resolve the problem as deleting the topic will most likely result in the member leaving or something like that 🙂
It depends on what type of negativity it is. If it's really helpful, then great. If it's defamation, it should be deleted.
We also have to realize that negative feedback can hurt an organization or companies' reputation, so I have nothing against them deleting anything that might have a negative impact. If it's actually a very constructive post, then I'd have a slight problem with the thread being deleted just because the owners disagreed with the criticism.
Ultimately, it really depends on each individual situation.
The only thing worse, is that some admins "lock" the topic. And leave it there, caue it counts as a post still 😀 At least they could reply, or leave it open for others to share the concern.
I welcome all feedback, the forum's not the greatest, and never will be. Everything helps no matter how much it may hurt the admin's feelings.
I know of a few forums that do this... Including some hosts.
It is a cowards way out just deleting the bad feedback rather then answering it and trying to sort it out. We do keep all negative feedback here and you can see it in the archive of the community matters section. We always answer the feedback here... Good or bad.
I was a member at advertising forum where the admin would delet all the bad feedback. I think it is cowardly to delete a bad feedback. Instead of deleting it you should try to answer it and find way to solve the problem.
Irviding: I don't think that is cowardly. if you have a problem with a staff member you should PM the admin not make a topic about it.
It really depends... I have deleted complaints about staff here when they have been posted here and i have already dealt with the complaint via PM. Staff complaints are always better done via PM so if someone does post in the public forum and it is the first i have heard about it, i leave the topic there and encourage them to PM me to sort it out.
Re staff and members all complaints imo should be made and dealt with privately, if staff have issues with members it should never be done in the forum, that's like getting a warning or dressing down at work in front of all your colleagues, it just isn't right. I have a private staff section at my place for such issues, though i'm the only staff at the moment, (lol I talk to myself) but in there I keep routine pm's (advisories) for certain scenarios.
Negative feedback on forums should be left for all to see and respond to unless it includes personal abuse to specific staffers or members
Im quite happy to leave it up as long as it's in the relative scetion and is constructive and not just 'This Forum sucks' etc. How else can we learn if we dont listen to our users?
It depends what sort of content it is. If it is inflammatory and rude then it should be removed and taken into account, and if it is polite and constructive, yet negative, then it should be left there and maybe even the suggestion should be done/
