Democracy without religion

That's not how it works. You prove that something is effecting something else. Anyway, you atheists effect politics, so I ask that there be democracy without atheism.

Maybe we should all just die, because the act of us voting effects democracy, knocking it "off balance" towards whoever we voted for!
1) Not all liberals are atheists. Look at me. Case in point.
2) Wow, mature way to handle that.

Many Atheists have taken steps to compromise religion by banning, for example, praying in schools. This is an (apparently evil) affect on politics, just like your vote and Barrack Obama's election. For the purposes of politics, Christianity and other religions are world views. Atheism is also a world view. Differing world views is what you despise, not differing religions.

Therefore, I conclude that hoping for democracy without religion is exactly the same as hoping for a democracy without liberals or unions. All of those examples have very different prospectives on the same things. Most of the arguments against religion that I see resort to ONE THOUSAND years ago for any legitimacy. In the year 2010 everyone's religion is their own business. Democracy cannot exist without freedom, so if there is religion, then how can democracy exist without allowing it to be practiced? What y'all are asking for is a naziesk democracy. A.K.A. an authoritarian regime.

I'm agnostic myself. If you're gonna look at religion (Judaism as an example), this is the whole Torah. This is an actual quote from the Torah.

That which is hateful to you, do not unto another: This is the whole Torah. The rest is commentary

The Bible's equivalent is from Matthew 7:12 (I was brought up in an Anglican private school as a child might I add).

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

Really, that's what should be practiced in Congress/Parliament.

Democracy without religion is practically impossible.

In a democracy, there is most likely a constitution. The constitution states numerous rules and these are bound together by the ethics of religion (usually Christianity). Something like murdering others is illegal and is a known ethic of Christianity and probably other religions.

I couldn't care less if someone next to me is praying to his or her god as long as a teacher or other authority figure isn't forcing me to pray.

.
No Atheists want to ban praying in schools. What Atheists (and the liberal populace in general) want to do is ban MANDATED prayer in public Schools.

Ever tried to hold a bible study at school? Try it, and I assure you, you will be brought to court by the ACLU.

If the teachers or principals are running it, then damn right. You should be taken to court.

If it's a bunch of kids doing it, there is absolutely no problem. Whether it is Christian, Muslim, Jewish, whatever.

I have to say though, "political correctness" does have a lot of double standards when trying to be fair. Sure, it's great we're not forced to pray in a public school, but the fact that a teacher can't say "Merry Christmas" or anything like that is a bit overboard. I don't see any problem with that, and I'm not Christian.

@Gimgak: They could probably aay "Merry Jihad" without getting in trouble.
