For those who design websites, do you go beyond? For example, design houses perhaps? Do you use some of the knowledge you’ve gained from doing websites into other areas?

I have used my knowledge of permissions/folder when doing websites/forums when I worked at a really big corporation. Knowing how to do permissions was a bonus and the guys who worked in that area were impressed I didn't have any formal training! I don't know if people are aware there is an entire field position for document management where you need to know how to set up folder (similar to setting up forums) with all kinds of permissions. It pays well too but most hire only people who have a bachelor's degree which is why they couldn't hire me...but they considered it for a while.

I design apps, banner ads, print media, etc sometimes, but nothing too "offline" like interior design. I'd like to think I would be pretty good at that, but haven't actually tried my hand at it.

I started out designing websites and forums and for a while, that was all I did but when I wanted to have new graphics for a site I had quite a while back now, I decided to dabble in some graphic creation as well such as affiliate images, logos and also advertising banners. At first, I was quite new to it all and would have to always be looking at tutorials but now I am able to make basic good-looking logos and banners. If I ever have the time I would like to go back and learn to do so much more with graphics.
