Well I am working on a new coding forum and I already have some unique ideas for the site but I want to know what you would like to see in a coding forum.

I am working on developing a new coding forum. The team has been established and we have some unique ideas for the site.

What are some features that you ( the community ) would like to see in a coding forum?

--- EDIT ---

20FP PER USEFUL SUGGESTION
EFFECTIVE : October 12th, 2011

These are just some basics but tutorials and help sections for people to come and see.

You should maybe even have a small team of coders behind you to help make tutorials and assist people with their coding needs. 🙂

We actually have already planned on having a YouTube channel that will be updated regularly with video tutorials. I will probably hire some writers to write tutorials in our blog.

Each category of coding will have it's own section for support. You will be able to post you inquires and get them answered by somebody else in the community.

Honestly, I could care less about the features.

All that I'm interested in is meeting more experienced coders like myself, 😉

Well then this will definitely be a place for you. We plan to have a great opening day with a few professional ( Actual Professional ) coders that can assist you when you need it.

Also, if you do look in my signature, the link for "Raising Money For Future Projects!" some of the money from there, will be used for Coderzz to help improve it and make everybody's experience a bit better.

This reminds me.

Nowadays coding forums are filled with users (who call themselves coders), and have the belief that they are legendary coders. However, the truth it, a few years ago, when we had "legends", these people always pointed out to the things they didn't know. The fact is, they were great because they knew how much they didn't know. And that eagerness to improve created some of the best coders we've seen on the web. Unfortunately, nowadays, coders are kids trying to imitate someone. So will this place nurture real coders?

Coderzz will have a lot of experienced coders along with the usual people who want to learn more about coding. The team and I hope that we can have the successful site that we want to see and hope that somebody ends their day saying "Wow. I just learned something from that site."

I can not promise that there will not be people that think they are the best at coding. That is not possible, I can only promise that they will most likely learn something from the forum if they do decide to stay there.

I would love to hear some more feature suggestions.

I am only going to pay 20FP per suggestion that I think was a useful one.

Not sure if this has been mentioned or not because I haven't read the other posts but let people submit their own tutorials.

What languages are you specialising in, or is it just broad?

I agree with you. Nowadays people have no idea how good they are and they can only create the same thing over and over without improving on their work and the fact is; they're quite bad at what they think they are good at. Will the site have use written tutorials approved by the community or just have tutorials written by people who think they're the best at it all?

Rant over and good luck with the project, I'd like to see how it turns out 🙂

It will have community moderated tutorials and these tutorials will be quality.

As they say for content, it is Quality over Quantity.

It will cover Client, Server, and Browser.

Do you have a domain in mind? I have some suggestions that are available.

x-codez.com
zcodez.com
codingfor.us

Just a suggestion, I would recommend having a modern name for the site, I just think anything like "coderz" or "xcodex" etc seems king of childish and not very imaginative? If you need help with a name then I'd suggest Googling some coding sites.

The domain has already been bought. Otherwise, I would be doing that.

I am in the process of developing my own Php/MySQL forum software which I have named AnotherBB. I know my stuff on some coding such as HTML, CSS, some js here and there, some php here and there. I am mainly coding this software for the learning experience as I am more of a hands on learner that a book reader learner. Its actually turning out to be easier than I though it would turn out 🙂 But if it works out and turns into something cool, then I plan to release it free (unsure on the license yet) and allow others to download it. If it doesn't work out, oh well, hopefully I had learned a lot more about coding because of it anyways 😀
