Did you build a forum to make money, or because you have a passion for the niche?

For me, it's both. My niche involves gambling, so a lot of the topics are about money. I'm very passionate about the niche I've chosen for my forum (poker). How about you?

With almost every forum it started out as a passion but many ended up providing an income.

The first and last forum I ever created was for sharing mods for THQ WWE Impact PC game. It was made purely because I was passionate about that niche.

Back when I had my own forum, I made made it because of a passion for learning how to run a forum. It was just a general discussion type. I never earned any money off of it.

I've always built my forums for the love of the niche. I think forums are still the best way to communicate with other likeminded people, I also look at owning a forum as a hobby. I never really thought about trying to earn money off my hobbies.

It's a hobby of mine. I get no money from my forums.

It's always been about a passion for the subject and sense of community over money.

Always just the niche. I never had the knowledge to monetize my forums during the years I ran them and honestly never even really considered it as an option. I just enjoyed being able to converse with others about topics I cared about.

I've done it for both reasons, but my most successful was a passion project.

I make money with my blogs, freelancing, and my hiking brand.

Forums are just for fun to escape the grind of my side hustles.

I have posted on forums for money but creating my own forums is basically my passion.

Not for money, for the passion of the niche...really. Something to keep people coming back or visiting it. 🙂

Hubby more than anything, and at the time when I starte,d wasas in school studying and learning the niche
