Did you take field trips when you were in school?

I vaguely remember them but I know we went to a museum a few times. Back then, for us kids, they were more about us getting out of the classroom than about learning anything. The teachers always had to make the trip into a learning experience much to our chagrin lol

When I was in college, we had a trip to a waterfall in a village in a nearby state. The experience was awesome and I ended up having lots of fun with course mates back then.

Every year throughout elementary school we had a field trip to the zoo and I remember that if I was in a group with a boy that meant that it wouldn't be peaceful! The boys were too filled with energy and always running off so that the chaperone would be at her wit's end!

Other various elementary school field trips were to the fire station, police station, a dairy farm, musicals/plays, and to parks.

There were numerous field trips into Chicago for the various museums but my favorite time was when we went to see the Christmas Trees Around the World at the Museum of Science and Industry.

In high school we had field trips to a French restaurant for French class and that was very exciting.

Thinking back on all the field trips I went to, I don't think students today get to do as many planned activities like that.

Not as many as I would like to go and thought I would do. I do remember the days when I did have a field trip 🙂 but three I think if I can recall that I have been on.
  1. Swimming classes had to leave out of school to the swimming pool, part of the sport class. 20mins drive away.
  2. Me and one other student back in the year 7 or 8, went out for the day to the stockyard where they sell and auction off farming gear goods, plus Livestock. Cows mostly. Learning and getting messy.
  3. Around 145mins driver away from high school to a stage event to watch something, got to deal with art. had a school bus and minivan. And was good, I sat in the front seat of the minivan for the full trip there and back LOL

When I was in secondary there were 2 trips to France that I went too (one was actually really fun, staying with a french family and going to a theme park and the other was a Battlefields Trip which was quite dead if im honest). I think I remember going to the Science Museum a few times and Kew Gardens for geography fieldwork. We'd go to a sports ground every week to do rugby.
