Does it ever annoy you when someone spells a word differently?

What about the difference between colour/color or grey/gray favorite/favourite?

Think of any other words like this?

you know, I used to be an entirely incapable speller -- failing spelling tests left and right, and definitely blowing every "rhyme" test that came my way. i was in kindergarten, but having been put in an "advanced reading class" since I already knew how to read, i didn't learn how to read "with phonics" like the rest of the kids, so rhyming was an utter mystery to me (and oddly enough, i later had trouble with proper pronunciation, a difficulty that persists to this day -- for example, i'll say "in-so-maniac" if I don't correct myself before thinking how someone should actually say "insomniac". Or ISELLTOWN instead of Isleton.*) At some point in first grade something just fucking clicked, and I never misspelled anything again, except for some words which I have continual trouble with (few and far between, and my guess is that everyone else actually spells them wrong). I can't really describe what it was, but it was something like when I figured out what the fuck was really happening with division, if that helps. I usually just notice if a word is wrong (which sometimes leads to second-guessing myself, but usually I'm right). I attribute it to years and years of standardized testing.

* of course, it's possible I'm just retarded. When anyone points it out I berate them for making fun of my speech impediment.

It annoys me, yes, but I also take into consideration that some countries spell things different than we do.

The spelling isn't a problem for me, only synonyms and those kind of stuff. Here is an example:

ForumPromotion is a bulletin board/forum/community.
Member To Member is a forum/category/section/topic.
Marketplace is also a forum/category/section/topic.
Graphic Marketplace is a subforum/subcategory/forum/category/section/topic.
You can create threads/topics/discussions in it.
And inside them, you can make a reply/post.

Forum logic is awesome.

Some countries just have a different way of spelling things. My importance factor is that it is at least spelled correctly.

What annoys me is when people can't tell the difference between your and you're; its, its', and it's; who and whom; alot and a lot; and affect and effect. When people can't for the life of them figure out the difference between them, it's really annoying.

Same, sometimes being tired makes me not to think. people get mixed up with peoples names

It does sometimes take me a second to see the spelling is right but from a different country.

Don't care how you spell it, just use the correct word choice. There's a difference between knowing your crap and knowing you're crap.

That's true, although that doesn't mean that those countries don't spell it wrong *ahem* England *ahem.* :nyan:

Exactly. I mean since they technically founded "English" as a language their spellings should be the proper ones.

Honestly, I'm okay with either way. The specific words that you are referring too are crossovers between English and British-English. I have some friends from England and they are usually the ones who spell things like colour, favourite, etc. It doesn't bother me at all. In talking with those people, I've done it a few times as well.
