Disabling indexing of backlinks??

I read it's bad to have search engines index links on you site. How can you prevent this?.

Add 'rel="nofollow' to the links in question?

Add pages with said links as not to be indexed in robots.txt?

You can probably find a mod that adds nofollow to member posted links on your site.
