Well if I knew what Dntemple is, I could help search.

I recall it was make x amount of posts to get a domain and make y number of posts to renew it and so forth.

Well Now there is a Place from where you will be able to get the completely for free. All you have to do is Make a few Number of Posts and earn Points. and you can buy the domain for free .
All you have to do is

1) Register on the forums and log in
2) Make Posts according to the described points for each forum .

Yeah, I know- MarvinG2 = Me

You... you're marvin? Oh wow. No wonder you knew me. XD Forum rules! :O ...Am I right?

What's the forum?

It's simply not sustainable. DNT ended up costing DNM $15000, the last few months of DNT domains weren't even redeemable because of this. DDBoard also shut down before DNT, and was their 1 real competitor.

NamePros has a currency system when you post and you can redeem domains / buy things from users I believe.

I know a place...

...it's called Forum Promotion. 😛

Domains

Fancy getting rid of your forums sub-domain and getting a real professional Top Level Domain (.com .org .net)? Exchange the forum cash you have earned on this forum in return for a domain of your choice.

Price: 9,000 FP Cash
Notes: This free domain name offer is for those who will set up their own forum or website, on their new domain name. We will not provide free domain names to people who wish to resell or park those domains.

Free domain names will be registered with Enom or NameCheap. You can begin to use your free domain name immediately. However, registrars generally require a 2 month wait after registration, before a new domain name can be transferred to a different account. Hence, you must wait at least two months before the domain can be transferred to your own personal account. The cost for transferring the domain to your account is 150 FP.

This offer is restricted to one domain name per member, in other words you can only avail of this free domain name offer once.

To claim a domain, please earn the required cash and send a PM to Fergal. Please include the domain you wish (it must not already be taken) and an explanation of your site and why you deserve a domain. Please also include the nameservers that you would like set for your domain name (if you don't know what these are, please ask your host). Further changes to your nameservers will cost 200 FP per change. Obviously you will not have to pay for these changes, once the domain has been transferred to your account.

Dntemple only required 1,000 forum cash and forumpromotion asks for 9,000 forum cash.
1,000 forum cash was equal to 10 bucks at dntemple.
So, 9,000 would be $90!

Anyone else know a site?

No, FP cash =/= DNT cash.

And it didnt work as you can see, thats why it was shut down.

It just doesn't work. To break even you'd need to earn $10 from each user who buys a domain, which would require a LOT of adclicks.

Add to that the fact that as a webmaster website a lot will use adblockers and won't click on ads, it's just never going to work

Not to mention FP ≠ DNT ≠ $ :/

When I owned HostBidder we were one of the first, if not the first to offer domain names in exchange for forum points. We didn't make any money out of it, but it made the forum very active very fast. I agree that it is proving very difficult for webmasters to make this work. However, I do believe that someone will find a way and that a successful site will grow out of this concept. Nothing is impossible.
