Do ads demand premium support?

They say that a volunteer staff shouldn't give premium support. Nonetheless, if they're making money from ads, then shouldn't the owners step in with premium support? It isn't the same deal as phpBB, itself, where the owners are not making an income - or are they making a one?

Perhaps the money they're making from ads goes towards paying for all the servers & maintenance, and all the other costs of running a large hosting company.

That's true, but I have difficulty people would set up something like Forumotion just for a hobby. Look how many forums are on it and - you're telling me that they don't want a profit?

No I'm not telling you they don't want a profit, I'm just saying that maybe they aren't profiting enough to pay several full time, round the clock tech support personnel. At the end of the day, you get what you pay for. If you want "premium support" then you should switch to paid hosting service.
