About your websites and interests. Are you labeled as the "IT Kid", the go-to guy for help with online resources?

It's odd at my school to be completely honest. Out of the people I know, they either know that I own websites or they don't. I'm usually not labeled as the computer guy, but I do get asked for help finding things online (such as homework answers). Since i'm in an advanced computer class (which is the reason why i'm starting Bitcove, it's required) those fellow students know and even help me manage my sites.

I'm just interested in knowing, do you tell your friends about your sites or do you keep your online life online?

Yup, I'm the "go-to" kid for computer stuff, and I get called a lot for computer help. People absolutely know about my site and online interests.

Never told anyone, but I have slowed down on my forum owning days

Everyone knows I'm "techy-ish" but I don't mention anything about my online activity. If I owned a forum with a billion posts, then I would say something, but for now, only "online" friends know.

My friends do know I run/have ran forums... though I don't really discuss it in general conversation.

I have not told a single person about my online life, I figure why should I?

Go posting up posters in all the classrooms that you can make websites and make yourself look like a computer nerd. o.o

I have only told my girlfriend.

I'm known as kevin mitnick in my college... everyone knows, something like 3k+ students ALL call me kevin mitnick. LOL.

I'm the guy to go to for software advise and help... I'm not a mas kid with hardware though... I'm starting to get there though.

(I'm in a IT course btw.)

And a few guys know I own websites. I don't keep things secret and I don't boast, if they ask I tell.

Forums and internet were only for "rich" kids in my high school days (1998-2002). I happened to go to a school where there weren't many rich kids. SO, hardly anyone even had computer let alone a forum or website.

Nowadays pretty much everyone has a computer and the internet because everything is so affordable now.

Eh, no. They would if they googled my name, though 😛 .

I'm the "go-to" kid, but they don't know about any forums i'm on.

I am the so called "techie" of my college department . When it comes to softwares and pirated materials , I am the guy , .

They know I am into forum designing , but I never told them about my forums specifically .

There's only like 2 people in my life who know of my website. 1) my brother-in-law, who happens to be a Star Wars fan, and 2) my probation officer.

I'm not in school but...

My other half and mum know about it, I've mentioned it in passing to a few friends but thats all.

I'm not the "IT Girl" by any means though, I have a tech support and am more likely to ask questions about computers than answer them

Yes. It's known by every single person in the entire school.

But I'm no tech guy. We have a kid in Geek Squad who sits next to me at lunch lol.

And Gen. Greivious, probation officer? o.o

Im usually the one asking questions on how to do stuff on my computer.
Running and maintaining websites/forums is easy. But dont ask me to change out my sound card or install some new ram or an additional hard drive or whatever. Computer might go boom.

Most of my friends know what I do. They respect it because it's what I like doing. No one judges me because I don't judge them. 😉

I go to a big farm school. So the internet alone is just for lazy people But alot of my friends do love the sites that come from my end.
